New variant from Brazil called P.1 (Gamma) which emerged November 2020 in Manaus, Brazil was labelled a Variant of Concern (VOC) by the WHO on January 11, 2021. By mid-January it had “caused a massive resurgence in cases across the city of 2 million people”. [1]
