Dr Clare Craig BM BCh FRCPath is a medical doctor and is a specialist Diagnostic Pathologist from England. She is a co-chair of the HART Group. Dr Craig is a consultant pathologist who worked for many years with in the UK National Health Service (NHS) before moving to work on the cancer arm of the 100,000 Genomes Project. More recently Dr Craig has worked with a medical tech startup to develop solutions that can accelerate pathological diagnosis.
Whilst she recognised the viral pressure in 2020, she was highly sceptical with the public health approaches being taken nationally and globally.

People are starting to talk. The fear has subsided in more and more people and they’re wondering what just happened. People are getting sick of hyperbole on both sides and wanting to know where the nuance lies. [But] I think the medics are going to be the last to wake up. I think it’s because, understandably, doctors outsource some of their thinking.
We all outsource some of our thinking, we all rely on different experts to understand the world in different ways. Doctors have a lot of knowledge they have to keep up to date with, so they have sources they turn to to help with that. If we come along and pull that rug out from underneath them, they’re left with so much work to do… in terms of rewiring their brains and understanding the world through a correct lens. I can understand the fear of having that security taken away from you.

In 2021, it became apparent that it was impossible to explain what had happened to people face to face. If successful in explaining one aspect, the listener would be left with cognitive dissonance, because you had not yet explained the rest. It struck me that the only way to hold someone’s attention for long enough would be with a book.
I set out to write a book that would provide a balanced evidenced based view that would help people understand why they had believed things that were not true as well as why those things were not true. My aim was that no-one would toss it aside because it was too oppositional to their current view.

- “We found that infectious people could be detected by the number of PCR cycles (Ct) needed to achieve a PCR positive. Highly infectious people require fewer PCR cycles (25 or lower) to achieve a PCR positive and post/non-infectious people required more PCR cycles (Ct more than 25). Mean Ct values from the ONS Infection Survey’s PCR positives therefore provided a measure of viral load in the community. We consistently found that the vast majority of ONS positives were non/post-infectious and that lockdowns were implemented/timed after waves had already peaked…
- [We] have found that the mean [PCR] Ct for the whole of the UK has been 25 or lower since September 2021. This would indicate a chronic, endemic virus with multiple regionally recurring waves. This is surprising given that vaccines were initially promoted and mandated on the basis of preventing infections and transmission….
- What is clear from the Ct values in the ONS Infection Survey is that neither “non-pharmaceutical interventions” or vaccines have had any impact on waves of infectious SARS-CoV-2 carriers and that neither economically destructive lockdowns or mandating experimental vaccines should ever have been attempted. Hyper-local focussed protection was possible, but the tools to implement have been ignored.”
