Growing out of commitments made at COP26 held October 31, to November 13, 2021, the The Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH) was born and lauched on June 27, 2022, of which the WHO acts as the Secretariat.
ATACH is a “WHO-led mechanism to support delivery on the COP26 health commitments on climate resilient and low carbon sustainable health systems”. Their inaugural meeting was held June 27, 2022 where 59 countries committed, at Minister of Health level, to turn the political commitments into “action at scale and pace“!
The stated objective “to build climate resilient and sustainable health systems, using the collective power of WHO Member States and other stakeholders to drive this agenda forward at pace and scale; and promote the integration of climate change and health nexus into respective national, regional, and global plans.” [1, 2]
