On July 22, 2020 the United Nations High-level Advisory Board (HLAB) on Economic and Social Affairs board members during an online dialogue, launched a new volume of essays, “Recover Better: Economic and Social Challenges and Opportunities”. Offering “fresh new ideas that can prevent new pandemics while achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” they put out the strong message to the world that “we’re in this together“ and “no one is safe, until everyone is safe“. World leader and the media repeated this mantra over and over through out the pandemic, especially while the world was locked down and glued to their tv!
The UN pushed the message again for equitable vaccine rolled out, and for a “pandemic treaty“.
“The United Nations High-level Advisory Board (HLAB) on Economic and Social Affairs was [conveniently] established in June 2018 to help strengthen United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) in the context of the United Nations development system reform and as a key part of efforts to enhance the United Nations’s support to Member States in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.” [4]
