In 1995, as an academic physician working in a London teaching hospital, he was contacted by the parent of an autistic child with stomach issues. He soon learned from several other parents with autistic behaviors, that their children’s regressive behavior immediately followed an MMR vaccine. He and a team of 12 other authors investigated and reported their findings to The Lancet…that would catapult Wakefield into becoming one of the most controversial figures in the history of Medicine.

The media (and the padlock controlled platform Wikipedia) would have you believe Dr Andrew Wakefield is a discredited doctor and fraudster, their hope is you won’t take the time to investigate for yourself.

The big pharma/medical establishment machine would have you believe that Dr Wakefield et. al. in their 1998 Lancet publication, “falsely claimed a link between the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism.”

Did they make a “claim” or did they report their findings which drew them to conclude there is a “possible” link that warranted further investigation? What is the harm in that?

Dr Wakefield’s story has had such a profound affect on the medical science community, that scientists themselves are “scared” of being “Wakefield’ed” should they publish anything even remotely suggestive of a negative impact on “vaccines”!

The Lancet study

“The Lancet study” by Dr Wakefield et al was published February 28, 1998 after peer review and is titled: Ileal-lymphoid-nodular hyperplasia, non-specific colitis, and pervasive development disorder in children, you can find it HERE.

In 2010 The Lancet RETRACTED his paper – New York Times REPORTS. By this stage Wakefield’s original finding had been replicated.

The paper’s conclusion mentioned a “possible” link to the MMR vaccine and that was the catalyst to see Dr Wakefield lose his medical license! It threatened the very lucrative vaccine industry. Dr Wakefield, at the time, was supportive of single antigen vaccine, for each virus, but felt the tri-valent, MMR form was the issue:

By May 24, 2010, the General Medical Counsel in the United Kingdom revoked Dr Wakefields license to practice medicine on the grounds of “unprofessional conduct.” [1] The hearing listened to the Sunday Times journalist Brian Deer and excluded the views of hundreds of parents of vaccine damaged children. [2]

The media “smear machine” then went into action. They made such claims that Wakefield is the author of a “faulty study that links vaccines and autism”, or other such generalisation. As much as this is devastating for Wakefield, it’s real job is to send a message to all other research scientists!

Mean while millions of children with autism are experiencing gastro-inflammation!!!

November 1, 2003 – The Lancet | Correspondence Volume 362, ISSUE 9394, P1498-1499: Separating inflammation from speculation in autism by Simon Murch – READ Simon Murch was a gastroenterologists at the Royal Free medical school in London with Wakefield, and joint author on original 1998 paper.

• At a time when MMR vaccination rates were “low” at 61% in some parts of London, Murch states “…subsequent studies [i.e.Oct 2002 paper] have lent support to and extended the gastrointestinal findings associated with autism noted in” the original Feb 1998 paper jointly authored with Wakefield…”the same is not true for any link with MMR” Murch states, based on “many epidemiological studies have been undertaken, the results of which indicate no causal relation”. [The statement that sparks no link to autism]

• Re letter to the Lancet journal by Simon Murch [published Nov 1] who says parents are placing their children in danger as a measles outbreak is immenent! Article states “the original research in 1998 suggesting there could be a link between autism, problems in the gut and measles virus”
• “…although there is now more evidence of the association between inflammation of the gut and autism, the link to the MMR (measles mumps and rubella) jab has never been proved.”

• Professor Andrew Wakefield…left his post as an academic at the Royal Free Hospital Medical School in London on Friday [Nov 30, 2001].
• “Wakefield has infuriated Ministers by insisting that the three elements of the vaccine should be administered separately to children.” Public Health Laboratory Service have derided his work and “insist the policy of giving the MMR vaccine to children aged 13 months, and again when they reach four years, is safe.”

I have been asked to go because my research results are unpopular…I did not wish to leave but I have agreed to stand down in the hope that my going will take the political pressure off my colleagues and allow them to get on with the job of looking after the many sick children we have seen.
